Chenango Forks: Mildred E. Mika, 82, widow of Steven Mika, passed away on January 4, 2012, at Good Shepherd-Fairview home. She was born on April 21, 1929 in Magnolia, NJ to Guy S. and Mildred E. Barnes. Millie graduated from North High School and retired from Broome County Department of Social Services after 29 years of service. Like her brother, Guy, there was never a crossword puzzle that she could not solve. She delighted in playing Scrabble whenever someone came to visit, and also loved gardening and needlework. Along with her parents, Millie was predeceased by her brother, Guy S. Barnes, Jr. and her sisters, Doris Carman, and Lillian Spak. She is survived by her brother, John R. Barnes, of San Antonio, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 13, 2012, at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, with Rev. Dr. Horace B. King officiating. Burial will follow at Chenango Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 pm
