LINCOLNTON -- Mr. Barnes, age 80, of 2465 Bel Air Drive, died Wednesday, February 22, 2006.

His funeral will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 25, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Dixon Free officiating. The family will receive friends 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, February 24, at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Barnes was born July 8, 1925 in Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Edgar Barnes and Eula Ellison Barnes Tomlinson; and one sister, Frances Bray. Mr. Barnes was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a retired educator, having served as principal of Lincolnton High School, Oaklawn and Love Memorial Elementary Schools. Mr. Barnes was a member of the Lincolnton Rotary Club and he served in the US Army during World War II.

He married Jeweline Brown Warrrington in 1953. They divorced in 1965
