Mrs. Sadie Mae Smith of Fayetteville died last Friday morning at Lincoln County Hospital after a long illness. She was 88 years old and the widow of Thad Smith, who died in 1950.
Services were Saturday at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Ray Panter officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith, the former Sadie Mae Barnes, was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Luther Smith, Sikeston, Missouri, James Smith, Nashville, Leon Smith, Howell, and Harold Smith, Fayetteville; five daughters, Mrs. Grady Davis, Mrs. Christine Walker, Miss Willie Mae Smith, all of Fayetteville, Mrs. Lois Ramsey, Louisville, Kentucky, and Mrs. Areneva Pigg, Murfreesboro; two brothers, Arthur Barnes, Fayetteville, and Woodard Barnes, Vernon, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Ramsey and Mrs. Tull Smith, Fayetteville, and Mrs. R. C. Anderson, Wichita Falls, Texas; 24 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
