Barnes, Phillip Henry, 76, a reisdent of Oakley Drive, Nashville, and a retired employee of Willis Carroon and Super Service Motor Freight Company, died Thursday (Dec. 8, 1994) at Southern Hills Hospital. A native of Lincoln County and son of the late Theo and Mary Loyd Barnes, he was a member of Brentwood Church of Christ. Mr. Barnes served in the U. S. Navy at the American Embassy in London during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Corder Barnes, of Nashville; three sons, Dennis Barnes of Athens, Johnny Barnes of Nashville and Phil Barnes, Jr. of Franklin; a sister, Juell Barnes Thomas of Hohenwald; three brothers, Colyar Barnes and Chester Barnes, both of Howell, and Teddy Barnes, of Fayetteville; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Don Bassett officiating. Burial followed in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
