Mrs. Minnie Barnard, wife of J. Carl Barnard, proprietor of the Elite laundry,died following an extended illness at her home, 107 East Eighth street, at 9:35 o'clock Friday night. She had been bedfast nine weeks. A complication of ailments caused her death. She was 50 years old.

The announcement of the untimely passing of this beloved woman brings sorrow to many heats and homes.

In her splendid personality, the highest attributed of noble womanhood were joined. Her vibrant nature, hearty geniality and her sincere and kindly interest in others brought her the friendship of all with whom she associated.

The nobility of her character and her amiable disposition solicited the highest esteem, expressive of an appreciation of such traits.

Mrs. Barnard, who was formerly Miss Minnie GOCHEE, was born in Letts, on March 7, 1870 and came to Muscatine in her early childhood.

On Sept. 10, 1892, she married J. Carl Barnard, to which union one child was born, who survives.

Fraternally she was affiliated with the Ladies of the Maccabees and the Ladies
of the Elks. She was a long time member of the First Baptist church.

Besides the husband and one son, J. Harold Barnard, she leaves to survive, one sister, Mrs. EMMA GENTRY of Davenport, and one brother, W. J. Gochee of Oskaloosa.

Funeral services will be held from the home at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The Rev. J. B. Rendall of the First Presbyterian church will officiate.

Burial will be made in Greenwood cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Fred C. Vetter, Ed. Will, William, Harris Julius Schmidt, Lawrence St. Denis and Vincent Fuller
