Marjorie Pauline Newman, 85, of Smithville, MO passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011.

She was born on November 16, 1925 to Dallas Polk and Viola (Preston) Barnard in Smithville, MO where she grew up and graduated from Smithville High School.

Marjorie worked as a dietician for Golden Living Center for 25 years. She was a member of Smithville Saddle Club. Marjorie enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and being outdoors in her garden. She loved her cats, cooking and was an avid Royals fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her only daughter, Connie Jo Wichham.

Marjorie is survived by her husband James "Jim" W. Newman; step-daughters Linda Hagar, Geneva Hagar, Mary McMillin; step-son, Jim Stewart; eight step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rowena Nalle and Grace White; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial: Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
