He was born in Arkansas on June 28, 1925. He was the son of the late Carrie and Delbert Barnard. Linnie served as a Sergeant in the US Army in World War II. He was a loyal deacon at Central Grove Baptist Church for four years and Temple Baptist Church for 56 years. Mr. Barnard worked at Sherfield Coal Mines for four years and retired as a dragline and shovel operator from Peabody Coal Company where he worked for thirty seven and half years and he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ohio County.
He was preceded in death by his son Delbert Clay Barnard; his parents Delbert and Carrie Barnard; one brother, Otis Martin of Washington State and one sister Rossie Bishop of Orange, TX.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Dale Gaither Barnard; he was a devoted father to his son, Barry (Charlotte) Barnard and devoted grandfather to his grandchildren, Shawna (Kevin) Gray and Blake Barnard, as well as one great-grandson.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 11:00 am at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Adam Brown officiating and Rev. Charles Gresham and Rev. E.W. Greenwalt assisting. Burial in Central Grove Cemetery in Ohio County.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
