Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Anthony Higgs (Tony) Barlow, was called home to be reunited with his sweetheart, Phyllis, on December 1, 2010 after a long and brave battle with leukemia. He was gentle, loving, wise, and courageous. He resided at 7242 South Cypress Way (2592 East) in Cottonwood Heights, Utah at the time of his death.

Born December 20, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ora Haven and Hannah Melvira Higgs Barlow. He graduated from East High School and received his MFA from the University of Utah.

He taught art in the public schools for many years. His teaching was not only about art but also about enhancing self-confidence. He created beautiful sculptures, paintings, ceramics, and jewelry.

He loved his country, serving in World War II, the Korean War, and in the Army Reserve retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He studied and knew so much about history, especially about the founding of our nation.

He married Phyllis June Peterson on June 22, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their marriage was a true love story. Their home was loving and full of fun. They gave their family unconditional love.

Tony had a sure testimony of the Gospel and loved Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He fulfilled many Church callings. He was not only a teacher in his professional life but personal life as well where he exemplified great faith and compassion.

He is survived by a daughter, Christine (Scott) Nielsen; two sons, Michael and Stephen; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Patrick (Sherry); three sisters, JoAnn (Dalmas) Nelson, Eleanor (Ed) John, and Pauline (Tom) Melville.
