Daughter of Mark and Ann Evans Cook.
Wife of John Haven Barlow.
Mrs. John H. Barlow, Sr. of Bountiful passed away, at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at the L.D.S. hospital following an operation.
Deceased was the daughter of the late Mark and Ann Evans Cook, being born in Wales, Oct. 24, 1849, coming to this country with her parents in 1853. The family settled in Bountiful where she has since resided.
Fifty-three years ago, the 24th of last October, she was married to John H. Barlow, Sr., who together with one son, John H. Barlow, Jr. and one daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Stringham, wife of Bishop Richard Stringham, survive her. She alse reared William R. Gierish formerly of Bountiful but now of Burley, Idaho, whose mother died when he was only eight months old. She has 22 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The deceased is widely known throughout the county and is highly respected. She was a sister of the late Bishop David Cook, Artulus Cook Briggs, Hannah Holbrook and Alice Holbrook.
Commencing in 1865 and continuing for about 20 years afterward, she was a member of the Bountiful Ward choir. In early days, she was also a teacher in Sunday school for many years and has been an active worker in the Relief society for a long time, visiting the sick and helping those in need.
Funeral services will be held in Bountiful Tabernacle, Sunday, January 22 at 2 p.m. All friends of the family are cordially invited to attend.
