Lenora Barks, 82, accomplished artist, passed away on July 4, 2011 at Hospitality Manor.

Born on March 20, 1929 in Hurst, IL; the daughter of Harold and Malonia (Elliott) Weston. She was raised in Dowell, IL attended local schools and graduated from Elkville High School. She worked as a secretary for Kroger Company and in the state Capitol in Springfield, IL.

On September 5, 1954 in Perryville, MO she married the love of her life, Everett Barks. They resided in Perryville, moved to St. Louis, MO and then came to Kenosha, where they raised their family. Her first love in life was her family, she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, and mother. She truly treasured family history, she loved to tell stories and was an avid family photographer. Because of her passion, her family is blessed by the documentation of their lives. She also loved to travel, cook, sew, and organize family gatherings.

Lenora's gift in life was her creativity, she was an excellent journalist, photographer, decorator, and designer. Her true love was her art, she was a highly respected and accomplished artist in the community for over 40 years. As a member of the Kenosha Art Association, she served as their secretary and editor of the KAA Newsletter for over 20 years. A charter member of Lemon Street Gallery, Kenosha Public Museum and Anderson Arts Center. She was featured in Artist World, Gallery of Fine Arts Publication. Her work has been displayed in North Carolina, Anderson Art Center, KAA Outreach Program, Kenosha Public Museum, Gilbertson's in Lake Geneva, Artist's World in Cambridge, WI and the State Capitol in Madison, WI. For over 40 years she participated in The Good Old Summertime Art Fair and Kenosha County Fair.

She was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle Church where she served as church secretary in earlier years. Lenora created and wrote "B.T. Chatterbox" newsletter, served as a Deaconess, began a Bulletin Board Ministry and helped establish a prayer chain which she was active in until the past year. Along with her husband Everett she began a church ministry at Hospitality Manor over 17 years ago. They have held church service there faithfully every Sunday and Everett is still carrying that service on.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Everett Barks; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonny & Ken Wamboldt of Kenosha; two sons, James of Dixon, IL., and Daniel of Kenosha; also left to cherish her memory are six grandchildren, Dustin & Dylan Wamboldt of Kenosha, Joshua, Emily, Nicole, and Jennifer Barks of Genesseo, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Frankie Weston.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Kenosha Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Kenosha Funeral Services. Burial Green Ridge Cemetery.
