[Obit] Charles H. Barklow died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roscoe Edwards, May 6,1937, in Medford. Elder Barklow was born in Keokuk County, Iowa, Nov.3,1871, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Barklow. Came west with his parents when about a year old, the family settled on a homestead on Matheny Creek in Pleasant Valley west of Stringtown, on a place now occupied by the Roberts family. Married Apr.9,1891; his wife died Dec.3,1936. He followed the trade of carpenter and paper hanger. Joined the Brethren Church when about 16 years old. Pastor of several churches: Myrtle Point, 2 years; Grants Pass, 4 years. Relatives surviving: 3 sisters: Mrs. Mary Miller, Myrtle Point, Mrs. Gracie Bonewitz, Weston, Mrs. Nora Knight, West Myrtle Point; 3 daughters: Mrs. Rachel Michael, Olympia,Wash., Mrs. Zella Williams of Eugene, Mrs. Golda Edwards, Medford; 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild. One uncle, Manley Barklow, West Myrtle Point. [MPH-5/6/1937]
