A longtime resident of Hunt County and the Greenville vicinity, Mrs. Nancy Anne Barker, died at 2:04 a.m. Saturday at her home on Greenville Route 3. She had been ill two years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Tidwell Baptist church, with the pastor, the Rev. Fred Moore, officiating. Burial will be in the Tidwell cemetery, and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Arrangements are in charge of the Gray-Sorrells Funeral Home, where friends of the family may call.

Mrs. Barker, 79, was born near Anniston, Ala., July 24, 1876, came to Texas when she was a young woman, and settled near Forney. In 1904 she moved to Hunt County and had since lived in and near Greenville.

Her parents were M. R. Ashley and Sarah Criswell Ashley.

Mrs. Barker had long been a member of the Baptist church in the Tidwell community, north of Greenville. Her friends pointed to her as a loyal Christian and a fine neighbor and friend.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. M. L. Sharp of Greenville and Mrs. T. W. Morphew of Dallas; two brothers, S. S. Ashley of Greenville and M. R. Ashley of Dallas; five step-sons, M. T. Barker of Dallas, W. O. Barker, J. R. Barker, Luther Barker and Verno Barker, all of Greenville, three step-daughters, Mrs. Annie Lancaster, Mrs. Carrie Dunn and Mrs. Eula Clark, all of Greenville, and a number of other relatives.
