Mr. Robert "Bobby" Demmock Barker, Sr, 52 of St. Marys passed away unexpectedly late Wednesday evening, December 24th, 2008.
Mr. Barker was born in Jacksonville, Florida on April 4th, 1956 and is the son of the late Dr. George (Blackie) William and Dorothy Louise Timm Barker. Bobby Barker was a long time resident of St. Marys, GA. He graduated from Camden County High School in 1974 and then acquired a secondary education in the field of Nuclear Health Physics. He went on to receive numerous accommodations for outstanding work in the Nuclear Safety Field. He gave up his nuclear career to return home and be with his ailing mother. He then began working for Lockheed Martin at Kingsbay Naval Base until his untimely death. Many people will remember him for his exceptional musical talents, especially the harmonica. He loved people and enjoyed giving back to the community by playing his harmonica at numerous weddings and funerals. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, cooking, photography, and playing music. He had a charismatic appeal that captivated everyone and was a joy to be around. He was loved by all and will forever be greatly missed.
Mr. Barker is survived by his children, Pamela Lauren Barker and Robert Demmock Barker, Jr. of St. Marys, and Brad Ashton Barker of Gainesville, Fl., and his brother George William Barker III of Carrolton, Ga, plus many other close family members and friends. Besides his parents, Mr. Barker was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Thea Barker Cummings and his brother, Brad Timm Barker.
A visitation was held from 6 to 9 PM, Saturday, December 27th, 2008 at the funeral home.
The funeral was held graveside at 2 PM Sunday, December 28th, 2008 at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. The casket bearers were be Scott Porter, Luke Spangler, Richard Bennett, Danny Miller (representing his father Mark Miller), JJ Windhaus, and Lucky Roberson.
Honorary Pall Bearers: Mark Hernandez, Ronnie Lee, Samuel Lee, James Lee, Pepper Kinsey, Frank Dodd, Ricky Pittman, Johnny Spangler, Shane Whitmore, and Mark West.
