Eugene C. Barker was born March 13, 1926 in Parkman, Wyoming to George and Ernestine Barker. He attended Sheridan High School and graduated in May of 1945. Following that he enrolled with the United States Navy where he served as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class from December 2, 1944 until he was honorably discharged on July 10, 1946. During his years in service he served in World War II and traveled on the USS Bottineau APA-235. Married Teresa Katsos in Price, Utah on December 9, 1949. During the late 1940's he went into business with his brothers and they started Barker Brothers Construction. Continuing on with that line of work he went to work for Garber Agri-Business in 1988 and finally retired in 2006 at the age of 80. Gene's main hobbies included fishing and spending time with family and the "Wal-Mart McDonald's Coffee Gang". Also if you ask any of his friends or family the number one hobby was visiting garage sales and stopping by the Salvation Army daily.
He is survived by his wife Teresa Barker; children, Geni Barker of Salt Lake City, UT, Mary Masters (Pete), Dave Barker (Linda), Barbara Taylor (Doug); grandchildren, Tracy Masters, Andrea Sanders, Jillian Barker, Kayleen Masters, Jeffery Barker and Tommi Taylor; great-grandchildren, Caden Masters and Tyler Gilmore; and his two brothers, Bob and George Barker.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother and three brothers, Joe, Gabe, and Phil.
Funeral services will be held at the Wesleyan Church on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 10:00 am with interment to follow in the Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
