ALTA J. BARKER; MATTAWAMKEAG - Alta J. Barker, 46, died May 9, 1979, in a Boston, Mass. hospital following a long illness. She was born July 15, 1932, in Lowell, Maine, the daughter of Samuel and Frances Smith Shorey. She is survived by her parents of Lowell; her husband, Clifton of Mattawamkeag; one daughter, Megan B. Barker of Mattawamkeag; three brothers, Wesley of Lowell, Samuel of Biloxi, Miss., Elton of Newport, Richey, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Lorraine Jipson of Lowell, Mrs. Donna McCafferty of Mattawamkeag, Mrs. Georgia Hays of Brewer; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Barton Funeral Home, Lincoln, with the Rev. Glenn Speed, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Repose Cemetery, Burlington. Friends may call at the funeral home, Saturday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
