With her family at her side, Audrey Elaine Williams Barkdull, 79, of Pike County, died peacefully Nov. 8, 2011, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans.

Audrey requested her body be donated to the pursuit of science at Louisiana State University and at Tulane Anatomical Studies in Louisiana. It was her desire that they find cures for others.

Visitation with the family will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church in Summit. Memorial services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Allen Dearing, pastor, officiating. Boyd Brooks Funeral Service in New Orleans will handle services.

Mrs. Barkdull was born June 18, 1932, in Summit, to Johnnie Thomas Williams and Mamie Roberts Williams.

She was a homemaker, a wife, a mother, a nanny, a sister, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, an aunt and a friend to everyone.

She was a member and vocalist of the retired folk music group, "The Country Three."

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Arnold "Dink" Eugene Barkdull; two brothers, Harold "Scout" and Delos "Bubba"; and two sisters Gloria Carol and Martha Carolyn Williams.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Barkdull; two daughters, Gwen Kennedy and husband Wayne and Mari Guzman and husband Henry; five grandchildren, Hollie Brassette (Wesley), Gwenn Marelo (Brian), Melissa Pollet, Chip Kennedy (Leighann) and Brooke Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Justin, Linley, Lucy and Carter Kennedy, Madison Marelo and Brian Marelo Jr., Shea and Skyler Brassette, Isabel, Noah and Abigail Pollet; a sister, Marilyn "Tot" Woodall; four sisters-in-law, Loraine Williams, Celeste McBride, Chris Trice and Paulette Barkdull; and numerous family members, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a favorite charity or any of the following: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., New Orleans Children's Hospital, the Autism Foundation, the Spina Bifida Foundation, cancer and breast cancer research, or to the Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church Children's Fund in Summit.
