Bertha L. Bark, 96, of rural Maynard, Iowa died on Sunday morning, February 9, 2014 at the Palmer Lutheran Health Center at West Union, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Maynard, Iowa with Rev. James A. Adix officiating. Visitation: 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the church. Interment: Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard, Iowa. A Memorial Fund has been established in her name.

Bertha Lillie Bachle was born on January 28, 1918 at Lamont, Iowa, the daughter of August and Katharine (Kerchner) Bachle. The family moved to the Maynard area in 1921. She graduated from Maynard High School in the Class of 1935. Bertha was united in marriage to Floyd Oliver Bark on August 8, 1943 at Maynard, Iowa. She was a homemaker and also worked in professional food service at Upper Iowa University at Fayette, Iowa for 23 years, retiring in 1990. Bertha was a longtime Randalia and Maynard area resident and had been a resident at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette since August 4th, 2010. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maynard. Bertha enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers, crocheting, quilting and sewing.

Bertha is survived by: Daughter: Linda Kreutner Patterson (Mike Patterson) of Sloan; Son: Larry (Wilda) Bark of Fayette; 4 Grandchildren: Todd Bark of Mediapolis, Tina Bark of Randalia, Sherri (Jake) Isbell of Garrison & Shawn (Sara) Kreutner of Vinton; 7 Great Grandchildren: Kristian & Madeline Bark, Jacob, Kaitlin, Isbell, William, Candace & Carly Kreutner; Sister: Gertrude Bachle of Fayette; Sister-In-Law: Virginia Bachle of Stockton, California and several Nieces & Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Floyd O. Bark on August 3, 1966), 4 brothers (Oscar, Karl, Albert & Henry), a sister in infancy and a son-in-law: Bill Kreutner, Jr.
