Iva Jean was born the first of four children to William James Barfield and Iva Estelle Evans. She graduated high school in Miami, FL. She later served a full time mission for the LDS Church in the Southern States.

She attended BYU in Provo, UT. There she met Larry Donald Baer in a Courtship and Marriage class. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on Aug 9, 1957. They were blessed with five children, Laura Jean, Mary Elizabeth, Lawrence Donald, Katherine Olivia and William Matthew.

Larry and Iva lived in Seattle, Provo, Idaho Falls, Las Vegas and Kanab. She served many positions in the church including; chorister, Sunday School Teacher, Seminary teacher and Activities Committee Chairperson.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jack.

She is the mother of five children, grandmother to 19 and great grandmother to 17 and counting. She was well known in many of the places she lived for her gingerbread houses at Christmas time.

FuneralServices held Dec 14 at the Kanab Sixth Ward Chapel. Arrangements made with Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab.
