De served in the United States Army during World War II. During his service in Germany, he was wounded and received a Purple Heart. Upon his return home, Mr. Bare owned and operated Bare’s Garage until 1999 when he retired. He was a longtime member of the Mount Carmel United Brethren Church and enjoyed spending time with friends and family, listening to bluegrass and gospel music, bird watching, and sharing time with his beloved cat “Harley.”
On Sept. 14, 1947, he married the former Jean Mohler, who preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2004.
Mr. Bare is survived by a special niece, a special nephew, a special great-niece, 2 sisters, and numerous other nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Bare was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Bare, William Bare Jr. and John Bare.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Mount Carmel United Brethren Church with Pastor Scott Budde officiating. Burial with military rites by the Dayton American Legion Post No. 27 will follow at the Linville Creek Cemetery.
