MRS. ANGELINE BARDO
Funeral services for Mrs. Angeline Gunnert Bardo, 94, will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock in Sacred Heart Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The body is at the Phillips Memorial Home. The Sacred Heart League will recite the Rosary at the Phillips Memorial Home this afternoon at 3:00.
Mrs. Bardo who has resided with her son, Claude Bardo and family in Fishkill, fell and broke her hip at Easter time. She was a patient in St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie and then later was transferred to a nursing home in the Hyde Park area. She died in the nursing home late Tuesday afternoon, June 29, 1971.
Surviving are one son, Claude Bardo of Fishkill, four grandchildren, Robert Bardo of California, Catherine Bardo, a student at Albany State University College, Frederick Cook of Massena and Mrs. Anna O'Hara of Syracuse and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bardo was born May 28, 1877 in Croghan, a daughter of Henry C. and Catherine Kampnick Gunnert. She graduated from Father Leo's Memorial School in Croghan and the Lowville Academy. she taught school for a time and on Oct. 1, 1900, was married to Attorney Jay C. Bardo in Croghan.
Sometime after Attorney Bardo's death, Mrs. Bardo came to Massena to reside with her son-in-law and daughter, A. Clark and Ethel Bardo Cook at 19 Elm St. Since Mrs. Cook's death on May 26, 1955, Mrs. Bardo has lived with her son, Claude Bardo and family. After Mr. Bardo's retirement as safety engineer at Massena Operations at Alcoa, the Bardo family sold the property at 154 Andrews St. and moved to Fishkill.
