Phyllis J. (Barcus) Brown, 79, of Lafayette, died at Franciscan Health St. Elizabeth Central at 7:06 AM Tuesday, November 22, 2011.

Phyllis was born June 11, 1932 in Monticello, IN, the daughter of the late Harold and Marjorie Dilling Barcus. She moved to Lafayette in 1941, where she resided until her death.

She married Louis W. Brown on July 30, 1955 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette, and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2008.

Mrs. Brown was employed by L.S. Ayres from 1969 until 1988, and later was employed by Bank One Credit Card Services from 1988 until 1997 when she retired.

Phyllis was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church until her death.

She enjoyed her grandchildren, crafts, Purdue and Lafayette Jefferson High School sports where she was a cheerleader for the 1948 State Basketball Champs.

Surviving are 2 sons, Ken Brown (wife Marcia) of Mulberry, IN; Kevin Brown (wife Judy) of Lafayette, IN; 3 daughters, Connie Brown (husband Rick) of Delphi, IN; Karan Luckett (husband Tom) of Lafayette, IN; Cindy Lempke of Lafayette, IN; and one brother Robert Barcus (wife Mary Evelyn) of Indianapolis, IN. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-granddaughter; 2 nieces, 4 great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette, from 9:30 until 12:30 PM Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fr. Dan Gartland officiating, with interment following in St. Boniface Cemetery.

If friends desire, memorials may be made to St. Lawrence Social Hall Fund, the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice .
