DANIEL A. BARBOUR
Of Los Molinos passed away April 15, 2012 at Red Bluff Health Care due to complications from a stroke.
He was born November 12, 1933 in Oakland, CA to Jerry and Ruth Barbour.
Dan went to Red Bluff High school and joined the Navy in 1951 and was on the USS Rio Grande AOG-3 during the Korean war and was in the Naval Reserves for 5 years.
On November 7, 1953 Dan married Shirley F. Roat from Vacaville, Ca. and they have lived in Tehama County for many years.
Dan has worked as an electrician for several lumber mills in the area over the years including Diamond, Louisiana Pacific and the last 22 years for Sierra Pacific Lumber in Shasta Lake, CA., where he retired last July.
Dan's son Michael introduced him to Geocaching and that became Dan's new hobby over the last few years and he not only enjoyed it very much but also made a lot of new friends in the process. Dan also had a love for horses and also trained horses in his younger years.
Dan is survived by his wife of 57 years Shirley Barbour, daughter Wendy Barbour, son Gary Barbour, mother Ruth Barbour, brother Mark Barbour and 7 grandchildren,13 great grandchildren, niece Stacy and nephew Greg Gordon. He is predeceased in death by his father Jerry Barbour, sister Dawn Gordon, brother-in-law Bill Gordon and son Michael Barbour.
Dan will be very missed by his wife, daughter, son, family and friends very much, but he will always be in our memories and our hearts forever.
Services will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at The Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, CA. at 2:00 pm.
