Edythe was born February 27, 1912, to Franklin Pershing and Mattie Berry Helm in Atlee, Indian Territory, Oklahoma. She departed this life on October 23, 2010, at the Healdton Nursing Center

She lived in the Ringling, Healdton and Wirt area all her life. She married Fred Warren Barbour June 6, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1975. She lived at Village Woods in Healdton from 1993 until 2009 when she moved to Healdton Nursing Center where she lived until her death.

Edythe was a housewife and mother who devoted her life to her home and family and loved doing it. She sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school classes for many years. She was active in many church, school and community activities including the church WMU, Carter County Election Board, Parent Teacher's Association, Troop Leader of Boy Scouts of America and was also secretary of her beloved birthday club.
