Mrs. Joy B. Mintzer, 93, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center surrounded by her two daughters.

Mrs. Mintzer was born October 17, 1921, in Owyhee County, Idaho, a daughter of the late Claude and Katie (Lehman) Barber.

Joy grew up in Idaho and later moved to LaJunta, Colorado, to complete her nursing degree. She worked as a registered nurse in Kansas, Oregon and New York where she later met her husband, Myron Mintzer, and were married on October 29, 1959, in Denver. They made their home in Littleton and she retired from nursing in 1988.

Her many interests included painting and belonging to the Cheyenne Artists Guild, writing and authoring two books about her family, and serving as President of the United Methodist Women in Boulder, Colorado, in 1995.

Joy is survived by her two daughters, Alice Hosseini of Boulder, CO, and Carol Mead of Cheyenne; a brother, Henry Barber of San Antonio, TX; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Myron Mintzer in 1992; two brothers, Mitch and Richard Barber; and a sister, Alice Barber.
