Thomas was a Revolutionary War Patriot. His grave along with his wife Margaret are located in the basement of the Harmony Presbyterian Church. A Veterans Plague was placed outside the door leading to the basement of the church by Jay Rutan Thomas Barber's 5th generation grandson.
