Ruth A. Phillips, 95, of Jerry City, died at 2:30 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2012, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green. She was born on October 7, 1917, in Hancock County to the late Emmit and Lillie (White) Barber. She married Doyle H. Phillips, Sr. on April 20, 1946, and he preceded him in death on July 12, 1987. Ruth is survived by her son, Doyle J. Phillips, Jr. of Jerry City; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Howard, Arthur, William, Irvin, Walter and Kenneth; and her sister, Florence Bishop. Ruth was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Cygnet. She was a graduate of Mt. Blanchard High School and attended Bowling Green State University. She retired in 1982, from Norbalt Rubber as a secretary. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2012, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore, with Pastor Dean Durant officiating. Burial will be in Jerry City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church, Cygnet.
