Akron Daily Democrat, Monday Evening, 18 September 1899:
"AGED LADY DEAD - Mrs. Eliza Barber, widow of George Barber, who was among the first to manufacture matches in the west, died Saturday noon of prostration at her home, 1017 East Market st. She was 82 years, 3 months and one day old.
Children of the deceased are Ohio C. Barber, Mrs. John K. Robinson of Chicago, Misses Catherine and Josephine.
The funeral services were conducted at the house this afternoon at 2 o'clock."
