STANFIELD Mr. Barbee, 73, died May 1, 2004 at Carolinas medical Center. He was born May 20, 1930 in Stanly County, the son of the late Lectie Jane Almond Barbee and Jason James Barbee. He was a retired Machinist. He was a veteran of the US Marines.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Love's Chapel United Methodist Church. Rev. Anthony Moore officiating. Burial will be in Loves Chapel UMC Cemetery, Stanfield. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hartsell Funeral Home-Midland.

The family will meet at the home, 102 Tucker St., Stanfield.

Mr. Barbee was a Sunday School teacher, and a Lay Leader for his church for years. He was also on the Administration Council for his church. He was a past member of Stanfield Lions Club, and a past member on the Stanfield Town Council.

Mr. Barbee was preceded in death by a brother, Coil W. Barbee, and by two sisters, Annie Barbee and Renie B. Rushing.

Survivors include wife, Annette Blanche Anderson Barbee of Stanfield, NC; son, Kevin Barbee of Stanfield; daughter, Cheryl Dunlap of Noblesville, IN; brother, Atlas A. Barbee of Locust; sisters, Dollie B. Cooke and Azzie B. Little both of Locust; and 6 grandchildren.

Hartsell Funeral Home-Midland is serving the family.
