Funeral services for Marie Baird, age 92 and a longtime Cordell resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Bible Mennonite Brethren Church in Cordell with Pastor Kevin Creed officiating.
Baird died early Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Cordell Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 11, 1913 in Cowden, the daughter of Edward Green and Cynthia Eunice (Ray) Barbee.
Reared in the Cowden area, she graduated from high school in 1931.
She married Campbell Baird on Oct. 29, 1932 at her home in Cowden.
Baird worked many different jobs including Lefty Doran's Café in Cordell, United Supermarket, the commissary at the old Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base in Burns Flat (earning her an employee of the month honor), Puckett's Grocery and the Cordell Christian Home.
She was an active member of the Bible Mennonite Brethren Church.
Preceding her in death, along with her parents, were two sisters and three brothers.
Burial will follow in the Lawnview Cemetery under the direction of the Jack Loftiss Funeral Home in Cordell.
Survivors include two sons, Edwin Jean Baird of Cordell, J.C. Baird and his wife, Judy Ann, of Oklahoma City; and two sisters-in-law, Hazel Barbee and Geraldine Baird, both of Cordell.
