Mary Ellen Banuelos
(June 30, 1933 - April 17, 2013)
On Wednesday, April 17, 2013, our beloved mother, Mary, passed away peacefully in her home at Lompoc, CA Mary Ellen Williams was born on June 30, 1933 in St. Louis, MO. She was raised, educated and worked in St. Louis until 1957, when she met the love of her life, Richard Banuelos, while volunteering for the local USO. Within three months she was engaged, married, and moved to Sacramento, CA. Living the military life took the couple many places including Japan, Louisiana, Virginia and Lompoc, CA where they settled with their three children in 1970.
Mary was an outgoing, strong and independent woman of character, who passionately loved her family and the Lord. She had a joyful sense of humor and had a knack for putting people at ease. She was a compassionate person with a sacrificial spirit about her. She was also an avid animal lover. Mary enjoyed many activities including traveling, bingo with the girls, BBQs with friends and family, and loved going dancing with her husband. She was a long time member of the Lompoc Moose Lodge 1036 and the VFW Post 211.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Richard (Dick) of 42 years, and her only brother, Harry Williams of St. Louis, Mo. She is survived by her three children of Lompoc; Angie (Randy) Hudspeth, Ken (Joann) Banuelos, Barbara (Steve) Krozser; grandchildren, Cory White, Miranda Banuelos, Cameron Hudspeth, Jenny Hudspeth Wolkensdorfer, Chris Hudspeth; and great-grand daughter, Averie Jean Wolkensdorfer.
Funeral Services will be private. However, the family would like to invite family and friends to join them in honoring Mary's memory at a "Celebration of Life" BBQ Party to be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013, 4:00 p.m. at the home of Ken and Joann Banuelos, located at 724 Tamarisk Drive, Lompoc. For further information, contact daughter Angie at [email protected] or (818) 422-9074.
We'd like to say a special thank you to our mother's wonderful caregivers to whom we are greatly indebted to, who cared for her like family, and became like family to us. Also to the awesome Marion Home Healthcare nurses and Hospice. And finally, to Lawrence S. Reimer, M.D., for his brilliant medical care, and his kindness and compassion he continually offered to our mother and to our family.
Rest in Peace, sweet mama, you are loved and will be missed by many.
