He was born Feb. 27, 1950 in Danville, a son of David and Elaine Deighton Bantz. He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother; a son, Nathan Bantz; a daughter, Natalee Bantz; three sisters, Angela Rahn, Cathy Bogaert and Jean Rodman and a grandson.
Mr. Bantz graduated from Oakwood High School in 1968. He worked at Hyster for 12 years and Quaker Oats for 17 years. He most recently had been working at ConAgra Foods.
He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a licensed NHRA drag racer. He raced at Indianapolis Raceway Park, Route 66 in Joliet and other various tracks. He was a member of Muncie Baptist Church.
