Lillian Reed Bantau, retired head of circulation for the Fort Worth Public Library, died after a brief illness Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Dr. Donald Hogg officiating. Interment: 11 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Lillian Rachel Reed was born April 28, 1920, in Fort Worth to Thomas and Lillian Ely Reed. A 1938 graduate of Paschal High School, Lillian attended TCU and Brantley Draughon Business College. She met her first husband, M.A. "Pat" Rattan, on a blind date and they were married in April 1940. They were longtime members of Hemphill Presbyterian Church until his death in 1973. Later Lillian moved to Westminster Presbyterian Church where she married Morse Bantau in December 1978. Lillian was an elder of Westminster and very active in Presbyterian Women for whom she was honored as a life member. She was also a volunteer for the CCA Food Pantry and VITAS Hospice. Lillian loved knitting and crocheting and she made hundreds of preemie caps and lap robes for many hospice patients. She and Morse spent happy years traveling in retirement. Lillian was preceded in death by both husbands, M.A. "Pat" Rattan and Morse Bantau; and a grandson, James Paul Mason. Survivors: Daughters, Kathy Rattan Mason and Jane Rattan Cooper and her husband, Hugh; son, Russell Bantau and his wife, Linda; grandsons, David Mason and his wife, Sandy, and Brandon Bantau; and great-granddaughter, Rhiannon Mason.
