Brian D. Banning, 19, of Mode, died at 3 p.m. Friday (Dec. 31, 1993) fom injuries received in an automobile accident.
Funeral services were held Monday morning in the Christian Church in Cowden, with burial in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Memorials can be made to the Brian D. Banning Memorial Athletic Fund at Cowden-Herrick High School. Arrangements are by Lockart and Sons Funeral Home, Cowden.
He was born Jan. 1, 1974, in Bloomington, the son of Rodger and Kaye Tucker Banning.
Surviving are his parents; brother, Brad of Mode; grandparents, Mrs. Eldo Banning and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Tucker, all of Cowden; aunt, Mrs. Rodney (Joy) Compton of Oakley; uncle, Blaine Griffith of Mt. Zion; and several cousins.
Mr. Banning was a 1992 graduate of Cowden-Herrick High School, where he played baseball and was active in the DARE program. In 1992, he was all-state honorable mention in basketball and all-state first team in track. He held the high jump record for Illinois small schools in 1992.
He attended Blackhawk Community College at Kewanee and was employed by Stevens Industries in Teutopolis.
