Mrs. Edith Banks Adams, 71, daughter of the late Clarence and Rosa Bell Holmon Banks, was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Sumter County. She was the widow of William Adams. Her earthly life ended on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Sumter Health & Rehab Center.

Mrs. Adams was a faithful member of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church and will be missed in her community and her home. She attended the public schools in Sumter County.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Mona Lisa (Leroy) White of Sumter; a son, Bernard Banks of Sumter; a devoted sister, Earthel Jackson of Huntsville, Ala.; five grandchildren reared in the home, Dr. Felicia Banks of Raleigh, N.C., and Lakeshia Banks, Tonya Banks, Jennifer Johnson and Falencio (Monique) Scott, all of Sumter; nine great-grandchildren; a godson, Tyrone (Felicia) Walters of Sumter; a goddaughter, Velmer (LeVance) McBride of Sumter; a god-granddaughter, Talisia Johnson of Sumter; five nephews, Carl (Jonice) Jackson, Timothy Jackson, and Kevin (Lisa) Jackson, all of Huntsville, Ala., Charles (Loretta) Jackson of Oklahoma City, and Kenneth Jackson of Memphis, Tenn.; four nieces, Jennifer Jackson of Sumter, Valerie Smith of Texas, Carla Jackson of Decatur, Ala., and Rosemary Witherspoon of Courtland, Ala.; and a host of other relatives and special friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela D. Banks, and an infant son.

Funeral services held at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Marion H. Newton, eulogist, assisted by Pastors Velda Rucker, Ricky Simmons and Nate Brock.

Interment will in Walker cemetery.
