Mary Louise Banks, 81, of Belle, formerly of Marshall, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at Ozark Mountain Regional Health Center in Crane.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Arlin Epperson and John Zaring will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
Born March 29, 1924, in Osage County, she was the daughter of the late George T. Kemple and Nannie Vern Monroe Kemple. She was a graduate of Linn High School. On Oct. 4, 1942, she married E.J. Banks Jr., who survives of the home. She had lived in Belle since 1972, moving from Marshall. She and her husband owned and operated several restaurants in Marshall and Belle. She was a member of Community of Christ in Belle where she had been very active and was the first female pastor in the Jefferson City Community of Christ District. Additional survivors include three sons, Larry Gene Banks of Springfield, Kenneth LaVern Banks of Waverly and Richard Leland Banks of Orange, Texas; one daughter, Lynda Ruth Jenkins of Galena; five sisters, Vivian Spurgeon and Margie Ridenhour, both of Belle, Nancy Ford of Waco, Texas, Kay Gilpin of Russellville and Carol Bowers of Camdenton; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, one great-grandson and one brother.
