She married under Brown in 1874 and Adam Brown was listed as her parents on the death certificate but everyone knew she was a Banks and it was even listed as such on her son Major Smith's death certificate. She was a former slave born in Arkansas.
Betty's 1st husband was surnamed Lee, father of Betty's 1st born son, Richard Clyde Lee who's wife was Margery Brittentine Lee. They are in the middle of the cemetery. Believe their stones were possibly broken by maintenance workers. Clyde owned the land that the church and cemetery is on which was purchased from the DeMoss family. He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church and taught school there during the week.
