Alpha Smith Christian Bandy, 80, of Tazewell, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 in a Bristol, Tenn. hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late William Columbus (Lummie) and Lottie Jane Rowe Smith, both Buchanan County natives. She had made her home in the Tazewell area for the past 30 years and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Corbin Bandy, three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Christian, of Tazewell; one son, Roger Lee Christian, and wife, Joyce Ann, of North Tazewell; five sisters, Kathy Addair and husband, Stuart, of Rosedale, Agnes Cole, Nell Mullins and husband, Paul and Ilene Mullins and husband, Jack, all of Elkton, MD, Louemma Mullins and husband, William Harvey, of Bristol, VA; three grandchildren, Roger Dale Christian and wife, Robin, Rhonda Gail Blevins and husband, Michael Wayne and Karen Leigh Leas and husband, Robert; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Tuesday, May 27 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Elders Don Stacy, Danny Smith and the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Interment followed at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock.
Pallbearers were relatives and friends.
Hurst-Scott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
