Tena Bandstra Westerkamp was born Dec. 25, 1915 in Mahaska County on a farm near Pe1la, the daughter of Peter and Anna Stursma Bandstra.
She attended rural schools at Black Oak Center and Flintridge, and Pella Christian Grade School.
On Jan. 19, 1939, she married John F. Westerkamp at the home of her parents. They farmed his parents’ farm for 25 years and had farmed in the Peoria and Taintor vicinities for a total of 50 years.
She was a member of Peoria Christian Reformed Church where she belonged to the Persis Ladies Aid and was a member of the neighborhood Busy Bee Club.
Tena died Jan. 13, 1991 at Pella Community Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; her parents; and three brothers, Paul, Gilbert and Raymond.
She is survived by two sons, Pete of Pella and Fred of Oskaloosa; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Anne) Mohr of Fairmont, W. Va. and Mrs. Marv (Loretta) Struik of Mesa, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; one brother William of Pella; one sister, Mrs. Henry Gertrude Vande Voort of Pella; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Paul (Bertha Bandstra and Mrs. Gilbert Joyce Bandstra, both of Pella.
