BALLARD, SR. ELTON W.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a retired employee of the Department of Labor, he died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Summit Hospital, Baton Rouge. He was 75, a resident of Denham Springs and a native of Livingston Parish. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart, American Theater Ribbon and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with Battle Star. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday. Religious services at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. John Edd Harper. Entombment in Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Emma Jane Ballard; three daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Kelly Gerald, Donna and Ronnie Dipuma and Annette and Frank Riley; three sons and daughters-in-law, Elton W. "Sonny" II and Cindy Ballard, Chester and Sharon Ballard and Chris and Billie Ballard; three sisters, Christine Ballard, Bernice Takacs and Josie Day; a brother, Jake Gordon Jr.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
