MYRTIS BALLANCE AUSTIN, 74, of the 3500 block of Bow St., died Aug. 18, 1991, in her home. Mrs. Austin was born in Hatteras, NC, the daughter of Elsworth Burrus Ballance Sr. and Lovie Alice Austin Ballance [step-daughter of Elvia Ballance]. She was a member of Hatteras United Methodist Church, Hatteras. She was also a member of the Golden Unit Wives Club, Khedive Temple, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 4809 and Zulekia Court 35 Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America. She was a former member of Kings Daughters Greenbriar Circle. She is survived by her husband, Lacy Wilbur Austin; a daughter, Virginia D. Mitchem of Norfolk; a son, Lacy Wendel Austin of Virginia Beach; her step-mother, Elvie Ballance of Hatteras; two sisters: Grace Peele of Hatteras and Mary L. Gray of Buxton; a brother, E.B. Ballance of Frisco; and 3 grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Ballance Cemetery, Hatteras, NC.
