Carmella Ball, 88, of Sheridan died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kane Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Mrs. Ball was born June 26, 1914, in Kleenburn to Bruno and Francesca (Carozza) Panetta. She helped her father run grocery stores in Kleenburn and Sheridan while she was in high school. She graduated from high school and managed the Sweetbriar Shop in Sheridan for several years. She married Irwin Ball June 16, 1946, in Sheridan. She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, sewing, golf, dancing and spending time with her family and friends. She belonged to Holy Name Catholic Church, Sheridan Country Club, the Altar & Rose Society, a bridge club and was a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Jean Panetta and Ethel Yorio; and three brothers, Walt, Joe and Frank. Survivors include a son, Richard of Sheridan; a daughter, Debbie Powell of Sheridan; one sister, Rose Calandra of Los Angeles; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
