Esther Jane Ball was born the daughter of Marcus Lysander Ball and Mary Ellen Keller. They are buried in Winthrop, Buchanan County, .owa. Esther was married to Junius Preston Hoover on March 20, 1883 in Buchanan County, Iowa. They were parents of three children: LeRoy G_____ Hoover buried Circle Grove Cemetery, Quasqueton, Buchanan County, Iowa; Bessie Mae Hoover Boub buried this cemetery; Ethel Ellen Hoover Merrill may be buried in this cemetery.

~0bit~Funeral services for Mrs. Esther Jane Hoover of Bozeman, Montana for Williston resident, who died of old age complication at the home of her daughter in Bozeman this week, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Williston Methodist Church. The deceased's body will be brought back to this city by train and burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery beside her husband who died on April 5 of this year at Poplar, Montana. She was born March 23, 1864, in Iowa and her maiden name was Esther Jane Ball. She lived in Iowa for some time and was a resident of Buchanan County, Iowa when she married Junius Preston Hoover. The couple moved to Minnesota, then later to South Dakota and spent some time in Williston with Mr. Hoover being well known as a grain buyer and active church worker. Mrs. Hoover was a member of the Methodist Church and devoted much of her time to church and community work. The only son of the couple passed away some years ago, and one daughter, Mrs. L. C. Boub, died recently. Survivors are another daughter, Mrs. G. C. Merrill of Bozeman, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Janette Wilde of Williston and Mrs. Martha Schneider of Quasqueton, Iowa, and her sons-in-law, Mr. Boub and Mrs. Merrill.

~0bit~Esther Jane Hoover, 73, formerly of Buchanan County and wife of Junius Hoover, who died five months ago, died at the Deaconess Hospital in Bozeman, Montana, on Monday morning, November 2, acording to word received here by relatives. She was buried in Riverview Cemetery in Williston, North Dakota, near her husband and daughter.
She was born on March 23, 1864, in Buchanan County, Iowa. On March 20, 1883, she was united in marriage to Junius P. Hoover of Buchanan County, Iowa. To this union were born three children, a son LeRoy G. who died twenty-five years ago and two daughters, Bessie Mae Boub, who died just a week before her and Ethel Ellen Merrill, of Bozeman, Montana. who survives. Also surviving are two brothers, W. W. Ball of Quasqueton, Iowa and Henry Ball, of Winthrop, Iowa. Two grandchildren also survive. About twenty years ago the family moved to Williston, North Dakota, and from there to Madoc, Montana. Her declinning years were spent at Poplar, Montana, where her husband died about five months ago.
