ROBERT F. BALL

Robert F. Ball, 68, 222 Bradley St., died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 1997 at Mercy Health Center St. Joseph's Unit.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where a flag presentation will be accorded by the American Legion Post 6, of Dubuque. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Ed Siegert-Al Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish wake service at 6 p.m.

Mr. Ball was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Dubuque, for 40 years, retiring in 1992. He also was the former owner of Ball TV Service for 30 years.

He was born on May 14, 1928, in Winthrop, Iowa, son of Frank M. and Martha (Domer) Ball. He married Marilyn White on May 13, 1950, at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church.

He graduated from Independence (Iowa) High School in 1949, and from Coyne Electric School, Chicago.

He was a Korean War Marine veteran. He was a member of St. Columbkille's Parish and its holy name society, and the Disabled American Veterans, where he was a volunteer and transported disabled veterans to the V.A. Hospital. He also was a member of the Y.M.C.A.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Ball; two sons, Michael Robert Ball, of Houston, Texas, and David John (Dianna) Ball, of Monticello, Iowa; a daughter, Kathleen (Ronald) Timpe, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; his mother, Martha Frances Blank, of Waterloo, Iowa; two granddaughters, Kristy Timpe and Emily Ball; and three grandsons, Jeffrey Timpe and Ryan and Drew Ball.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Ball; his stepfather, Loren Blank; and a sister, Jean Norcott.

A Robert F. Ball Memorial Fund has been established.
