Neva Rose Ball
(January 23, 1920 - August 6, 2012)

Neva Rose Ball of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Lansing,

Passed away in her sleep at the age of 92 August 6, 2012. She was born in Gratiot County, Michigan, the daughter of Thomas and Marie Wheeler on January 23, 1920.

Neva was an avid reader – of the newspaper, of biographies, and history. She corresponded with friends and family for as long as she was able. Keeping track of the family tree was very important to her. She was clever in her own writing, especially in creating poetry and little stories. She was also good with games – from the word game Scrabble, crosswords, and wordfind. When anyone came to visit, if you mentioned playing Scrabble, you knew to prepare yourself for the duration. Always a battle of wits, and she was GOOD. She was a loving wife to Valdo for 55 years, mother and grandmother. She leaves two children, Larry Ball of Dimondale and Pam (Emerson) DeForest of Gaines. Her son Thomas Ball preceded her in death in January 2012. Her sisters Arlene(Ron) Kohler, Ruth (Jack) Mitchell-Johnson, and Theda (Lloyd) Hammondtree left this earth before her, leaving one sister Betty (Jim) Petro of Alma. Her grandchildren were her life. She will be missed by her seven grandchildren; Lynn (Sue) Ball of Eaton Rapids, Tammy (Jerry) Albright of Eaton Rapids, Paul (Tammy) DeForest of Bancroft, Mike (Evelyn) DeForest of Flint, Tracie (Jim) Hill of Owosso, Tina (Doug) Hincka of Sparta and Tommy Ball of Redford, twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Grace Hospice and Country Acres Adult Care facility for your gentle care and patience during her year long visit. Your work is complete Mom walk with Dad, side by side, I'm sure the coffee pot is on.

Funeral services will be 3 pm Wednesday August 8, 2012 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids, MI 48827. Interment will be at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Hospice, 2205 Jolly Rd. Suite C, Okemos, MI 48864. Online condolenses may be made at www.ShellyOdell.com.
