Roger R. Bales, age 65, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on January 16, 2014. He was born to the late Eugene and Ernestine (Grumbles) Bales, in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 2, 1948.

He retired from the U.S. Army and served in Viet Nam where he received the Bronze Star. He worked for the State of Texas, Department of Information Resources, as a Security Analyst.

Roger is survived by his wife, Ida Lee (Chase) Bales; son, Aaron Randolph Bales of San Antonio; daughter, Brandi Lee Ashton of Hutto; brother, Robert Gene Bales of Katy; and four grandchildren.

Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home, 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M., with Graveside Services to follow at 1:00 P.M., on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the Kyle Cemetery, with Pastor John William Rudd officiating.
