Angelee Alexander, 89, left this world for a better one at 9:45 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011. She was born on Feb. 18, 1922 in Roasting Ear Creek in Stone County, Arkansas, the daughter of the late John & Bertie (Woody) Balentine.She married Junious "Mr A." Alexander in 1941 and he died Feb. 28, 2001.Angelee retired in 1994 at the age of 72 as a supervisor of the salad department of the food service at Principia College in Elsah.Surviving are a daughter & son in law, Patsy & Gene Abbott of Jerseyville; a granddaughter & her husband, Tonya & Jason Mayer of Godfrey; a grandson & his wife, Duane & Amy Abbott of Brookfield, Il.; a great grandson, Tye Abbott; a sister, Mildred Veo Mitchell of Mountain View, Ar.,; a brother, Silas Balentine of Fifty Six, Ar.,; and a special friend & companion, Therain Gilman of Jerseyville.She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Balentine; two sisters, Cleo Green , and her husband, Orvin Green & Thelma Alexander, and her husband, Thurlow Alexander, a brother in law, Jack Mitchell, and a sister in law, Vera Balentine.Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Thursday until time of funeral services at 12 noon at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the Riverbend Humane Society & Animal Shelter in Jerseyville.
