Mrs. Thomas A. Baldwin, mother of Merlin Baldwin of Superior, died in a Red Cloud hospital, Saturday at about 10 a.m., 24 hours after suffering a paralytic stroke, at the Red Cloud Rest Home where she had been living for the past two years. She was 98 years, 7 months and 7 days of age.
Mrs. Baldwin, who was Miss Abigail H. Carter before her marriage, was born in Marshall County, Iowa, Nov. 12, 1866. She was united in marriage to Thomas A. Baldwin Nov. 12, 1899, and to the union three sons were born, Clarence J. of Gresham, Ore., Carl S. of Hillsboro, Or., and Merlin of Superior.
The family came to Superior about 1920 from Guide Rock and lived here for a number of years, moving back to Guide Rock in the early thirties. They had also lived on a farm near Northbranch, Kan., and before living in Jewell County had made their home in Lawrence, Kan. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Mrs. Baldwin had been in extra good health for a person of her advanced years, and was in Superior visiting in her son's home only a week before her death.
Surviving are her three sons, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her husband died in February, 1937.
Funeral services were held at the Guide Rock Methodist Church Tuesday, June 22, with Rev. Robert E. Favre, jr., and Rev. Gene K. Dappin officiating, and burial was in Northbranch cemetery (sic).
