Lieutenant Colonel Gustave Bouligny Baldwin IV (Bou) died on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the age of 44. He is survived by his daughters Brittany Anne and Alexis Bouligny, his parents Gustave Bouligny Baldwin III and B.K. Baldwin, and his sisters Katherine Baldwin Greiner (Jay) and Susan Sloane Baldwin. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Mrs. William Hardman Gray, Jr., his niece Leah Morgan Greiner and his nephew Luke Baldwin Greiner. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Bouligny Baldwin, Jr. and his maternal grandfather Charles Morgan Fuller. Lt. Col. Baldwin was born in New Orleans and attended Trinity Episcopal School. He graduated from Isidore Newman School and the University of Mississippi. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, the Boston Club, and various Carnival organizations. He graduated from the United States Air Force pilot training program at Reese AFB in Lubbock, TX in 1989 and flew the Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft during his distinguished military career. Lt. Col. Baldwin's 8 years of active service included tours in both Gulf wars, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Afghanistan. Following his retirement from the military, he served in the Mississippi Air National Guard and was the Commander of the 238th Air Support Operations Squadron from March 2007 to September 2010. He was deployed to various locations in support of Operations Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom to include Turkey, France, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, and others. During his service, he received 28 different awards and decorations. Additionally, he was an international pilot for Delta Airlines from 1999 until he became ill.
