Baldwin joined the police department in January, 1966, and served as night patrolman for six months. He later became a fulltime policeman and was appointed chief October 24, 1967, where he served until his death.
Baldwin was especially thoughtful where school children were concerned. Last August he was presented with a book containing a poem and signatures of some 181 elementary school children as a token of their appreciation for his service as a school crossing guard.
He had also been a member of the Owenton and Owen County Volunteer Fire Departments for over 20 tears.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mona Davis Baldwin; a daughter, Mrs. Doris Ann Riley, Owenton; and three grandchildren.
Services were conducted Tuesday at Kemper and Arnold by Rev. Wayne Kelly with burial in Owenton cemetery. Members of the fire department served as pallbearers.
