Son of John Alpheus Baldwin & Ruth Alice Tanner. Married Elva Viola Edith Kiholm 12 Oct 1925 in Shelley, Bingham, Utah. Seven children including Doris Viola & Robert Lee Baldwin (now deceased).

Mr. & Mrs. Roland Baldwin, residents of Concord, California, were killed last Sunday evening about 6 p.m. at a Madera, California, rail crossing, and Mrs. Mattie Sandlin, who was with them, was also killed.
Funeral services are to be conducted this Thursday, July 20, at 9:30 a.m. at the LDS church, Concord Ward 3700 Concord Blvd. Interment and concluding prayers, Memory Gardens Cemetery, Concord.

...The worst accident near Madera (California) took the lives of three Contra Costa (county) residents when their car was hit by a freight train at a crossing.
"The dead are Roland Baldwin, 58; his wife, Viola, 55, parents of seven children, of 2730 Kay Ave., Concord, and Mrs. Mattie C. Sandlin, about 70, a widow of 161 Circle Drive, Walnut Creek.
"Kenneth Baldwin, 30, son of the dead couple, said his father, a real estate salesman for a Madera subdivision, was taking Mrs. Sandlin to the Madera property as a prospective purchaser.
"He said an air conditioner in the car may have prevented his father, the driver, from hearing the train's warning whistle.
"The Southern Pacific freight train struck the left rear of the car and knocked it 63 feet. It landed upside down;
Survivors are Mrs. Doris Arrington of Twin Falls, Idaho, daughter; sons Richard C. Baldwin or Orem, Utah; Kenneth D. Baldwin of Pinole, California; Robert L. Baldwin of Pleasant Hill, California, daughters Carma Joyce and Darlene Baldwin, both of Concord, and Roland A. Baldwin, of Campbell, California.
In addition, Mr. Baldwin has three brothers, one of them being A. J. Baldwin of Fairfield, and a sister, Mrs. George Webster, Boise.
Surviving Mrs. Baldwin is a sister, Mrs. Roland Pond of Murray, Utah, also a forner resident of Fairfield.
The Fairfield Baldwins motored to California on Monday to help with arrangements.
The Baldwins were residents of Camas Prairie for more than twenty years. When they first arrived here they farmed up Soldier creek. Later, Mr. Baldwin served as sheriff of Camas County for three terms, in the 1930's. He was owner-operator of Baldwin Service in Fairfield, selling the business to Res O'Neil, present owner-operator.
